How can you help?

Milton Borough Council and TIME have recently partnered to announce a major community service project in recognition of Milton’s upcoming bicentennial, a three phase “Downtown Streetscapes Master Plan” known as Project 2017.

The Project 2017 goal is to beautify the streets within Milton’s downtown business district.  This project will begin with the removal of overhead wires, obsolete lighting, and overgrown trees.  After these eyesores are eliminated, the sidewalks will be improved, all wiring will be buried underground, new decorative streetlights and signage will be installed, and appropriate trees will be planted.

“Phase1 -  has already been completed,” which included the Borough’s Municipal Parking Lot reconstruction and TIME’s development of Merle Phillips Outdoor Life Park.  The second phase, which will be donor-funded, involves Broadway streetscape revitalization, while the third phase, which will be publicly-funded if and when grants become available, will focus on the beautification of Front Street’s streetscape.

“Phase 2 -  Broadway Streetscapes” is now underway, thanks to the generosity of two lead pacesetting donors.  Milton Savings Bank donated $50,000, and Boy Scout Jacob Bower began his in-kind donation by landscaping a vacant lot on Broadway as his Eagle Scout project.

To kickoff Project 2017, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future location of “Founders’ Circle,” at the corner of Arch Street and Broadway near Milton Savings Bank.  A four-sided Victorian-era style street clock has already been installed there, and next spring the balance of the site will be completed.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 in cash and in-kind donations, which can be pledged over one, two, or three years.

We are pleased to offer various donor recognition opportunities, including certificates of appreciation, miniature clocks, and engraved bricks, as well as engraved plaques on the streetlights, the Bicentennial Clock, and the “Millstone” monument at Founders’ Circle.

“Honor the Past - Invest In Our Future” is the Project 2017 Capital Campaign Slogan.  We are hopeful that you will participate with a generous donation.

Please feel free to contact us for more information or if you have any questions.
