What has already happen?

Miltonians have always been very proud of the rich history of their Borough.  Many stories survive about the people and places that have formed the landscape of Milton’s past, which ultimately shaped the community of today and the dreams of tomorrow.

In recent years, we have witnessed vast improvements to our community through the efforts of Milton Borough Council.  These municipal projects have included the restoration of the historic railroad stations, which now house the Milton Borough Hall and the Milton Police Department, as well as the makeover of the cemeteries, the expansion of recycling programs, the refurbishment of Brown Avenue Park, and the sustenance of the Milton Community Pool.  This summer, the Municipal Parking Lot was completely reconstructed and expanded to double the parking capacity.

During the same period, Milton’s non-profit downtown revitalization organization, TIME, has spearheaded a number of projects to greatly enhance the overall community.  Thanks to the generosity of many devoted volunteers and donors, TIME created the Milton Historic Downtown Walking Tour and Veterans’ Memorial, acquired and saved the Miltonian fire station, and constructed the Milton Model Train Museum and Merle Phillips Outdoor Life Park.  TIME’s volunteers are also responsible for the installation of the gazebo in Lincoln Park and the procurement of three widely-discussed murals on the Moose, Coup Agency, and Stetler buildings.

Additionally, TIME has awarded many matching-fund façade grants to downtown property owners to enhance the appearance of their buildings.  Milton’s newly-inviting downtown environment has already attracted several successful new businesses, with more on the way.  Expanded efforts to promote and market the downtown to consumers include the ever-popular Music in the Park summer concerts, the Halloween Parade, and the “Milltown Christmas” holiday activities.  TIME has just agreed to accept the fledgling Milton Cultural Festival within its organizational structure.

We are proud to say that we are capturing the attention of neighboring towns in Central Pennsylvania.  Local newspapers have reported that “Milton is experiencing a Renaissance.”  This is exciting, and we must keep moving forward!
